I would like to take this time to welcome you all to a new school year. We are looking forward to a very engaging and productive year; where working diligently will pay off. As we move closer and closer to college and career readiness I want to emphasize the importance of reading nightly to your children. According to the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development, nearly 10 million of America’s children struggle to read, and poor reading skills lead to anxiety and low self-esteem in children. However, research also shows that when parents read to their children during the critical development years, these children become better readers, and do better in school. I encourage you to read to your child/ren, and have your child/ren read to you. “Reading teaches kids to think.”
Hence, let us work together for the betterment of our children because they are the leaders of tomorrow.
